Neil Armstrong's hometown goes all out
for 40th anniversary of moon walk | Cincinnati.com | Cincinnati.Com

For 40 years now in this western Ohio town - about 110 miles due north of Cincinnati, smack in the middle of some of the most bountiful farmland in the world - native son Neil Armstrong is never far away, even though he only rarely returns to the place he once called home.

The European Space Agency has asked industry to work out the requirements of the craft and its likely cost.
Known as the Advanced Re-Entry Vehicle, it would be developed in phases - first as an unmanned vessel to carry cargo, and then as an astronaut crew ship.
At the moment, Europe has no independent capability to transport humans into space and must hitch rides on American or Russian systems.

Google already offers a limited overhead view of the moon that highlights the sites of the Apollo landings, but it seems more detailed maps could be in the works as part of the ongoing partnership between Google and NASA.
